Eraser and magic eraser

There are actually two different eraser. The Eraser and
the Magic Eraser. The "normal"
eraser enables you to "paint with transparency" mostly like you do when using
one of the drawing tools. Meanwhile the Magic Eraser works like the paint can but
selecting areas of contiguous and similarly colored pixels and removing them. Thus
creating transparent zones.
- To switch between the two different eraser Alt-click in the toolbar or
press E key.
Using the Eraser (the normal one)
The eraser tool changes opacity of pixels in the image as you drag through
them. You access all the options of this tool in the Eraser Options palette.
Using
the normal eraser you have an easy way to draw straight lines
as you do when using the drawing tools
Once you selected the options for this tool in the Magic Eraser options palette, click
in the image to define a sample for the color tolerance calculations. All pixels with
values in between this tolerance range will be set to transparent.
